Default Pretty Boring

4-handed $50/100.

Folded around to SB who raises. He's very aggressive, especially preflop. Not a great player either.

I call in BB with 97o.

Flop QQ4. He checks, I check. I think this check is geniuine weakness and not a slowplay by him.

Turn 7. He checks, I check.

River 4. He bets, I raise.

Fish left, I left. At least I managed to crawl back from down $4500 to up $300 before it was all said and done.

I get the river raise but could you explain the turn check. You don't think he calls you down with an A from there? Or do you get even more hands to bluff the river?

Right I think I'm more interested in trying to induce some river bluffs. Sure I might occasionally let a 3 or 6 outer get there but the pot is 2BBs so it's not the end of the world. So far I have shown the opponent I have zero interest in the pot so I pretty much assume he's going to fire into the pot on the river.

Plus there's the chance I might get king high (if he happened to check it twice) or even jack high to call the river raise out of curiosity and thinking I'm running a desperate bluff.

why does villain bet a high card here?

edit: Is it standard in a pot of like: QQ442 for an Ace to value bet river (trying to get a K to call)?

edit 2: just saw your post below mine after the edit...haha

I would bet an ace hi here and probably call a raise if I was villain. Note also I think its a good value bet, because if I was schneids I would be calling this river easily with K hi.

Do you think he's calling the raise with a 4? Why not bet the turn?
