Re: KK in BB..PLEASE advise
what's the buy in? i'd think possible hands are AK, AA, QQ, JJ, AQ, 1010, but with a low buy in this early you never know. With this flop i think you're committed to the pot. The question isn't, "can i get away from this?", it's "should i push, check/push, or try to induce more action with a smallish bet?". I think you did none of these. With a 2k bet you're definately committed, if you're going to bet and not push make it 1-1.5k.
I'm assuming if you weren't behind on the flop you lost on the turn, but not much you can do here. |

Re: KK in BB..PLEASE advise
This was a 20+2 Buy in. He ended up showing 99. Is that unavoidable? And was his call for 1300 more "correct"? Maybe my raise to 2000 was not a good one. Thoughts?

Re: KK in BB..PLEASE advise
was his call correct? no. is that unavoidable? probably. I think given your stack size, the size of your raise was perfect. Its large enough to give anyone but aces bad odds to call, and still leaves a little bit of room for maneuvering after the flop. sometimes bad things happen... this is one of those times.

Re: KK in BB..PLEASE advise
These stacks are huge, so I'm assuming we're looking at a final table of an MTT. Oh, you're saying that.
MTT tournaments play differently IMO. This is such a deep stack relative to the blinds, which makes this very interesting. Unless you have any sort of table reads, or you're an expert at sniffing out sets, and are able to let go of KK, I think many of us will go broke on this hand. Frankly, villain gave you an 90-95% chance of giving you the extra 1300 chips. That's the only way of looking at this IMO. |

Re: KK in BB..PLEASE advise
Ok, so all results aside,
Should i have just pushed on flop? Or...actually, i cant really think of any other way to play it. I think the 2000 bet on the flop may have been a bit weak, inviting AQ to raise. I cant imagine betting less than that (ie 1500) cus i am committed and I cant see myself folding even if Im raised. opinions? -Fhish |

Re: KK in BB..PLEASE advise
You're over thinking this. You want your opponents to "make the mistake" of calling your 2000 chip bet. He did, and was rewarded. You made the price to play, very expensive, and he was foolish enough to follow. These are the type of plays that keep the fish around.
Obviously, you could have pushed preflop, and taken down the 700 chips. But wouldn't you prefer someone to reraise you allin with a hand like AK? Let it go. That's what a sane person would do. Edit: I guess there is only one thing to reconsider. The pot was 1000 chips when you raised. You raised to 2000, making the pot t3000. Villain only need t1300 or greater than 2:1 pot odds to pay and see a flop. If this is on your mind at all, then you should have raised to t3000 or t3500 to give him worse pot odds. |
