Default 1-2NL Tropicana, I told Him To CHOP!!

ive been playing about 4 hours and decide its time for a table change, its my first hand at the table and i get KQo. small blind calls and i offer a chop.( opportunities for chops are extremely rare as far as ive seen there, meaning they rarely occur at such a small blind structure) he VEHEMENTLY denies my preposal and i proceed to act angry and bet a cool $25, he smooth calls. Flop comes

K74 rainbow

he checks at which i proceed to bet $36 , i played this hand feeling as though i had the best of it, yet tried to make him believe i was stealing.. he thinks for a second and moves all in, another $210 i think for a second and call, still positive i had the best of it....he turns over 1010 and my kings hold up any one else have any stories of bad beats either way in a proposed chopped pot...i cant get enough of them

What was the purpose of chopping? you both get your blinds back? If so i don't see the problem with him refusing. explain the point of this to me if you would.

Obviously, pushing after the K over card is not the brightest, but I guess you induced that with your offer. kind of under handed in my opinion

If he refuses your chop and goes all in, and you call, most of the time you lose money.

Eh, I don't really think so. For all he knows, the SB had J9o or some other marginal hand he felt like completing. If I was in the SB with something like that I'd happily chop. The way it turned out was a beautiful psych play.

yes, both players receive their blinds back and the buttons moves...its a courtesy type thing that most players do ...my theory on these pots when its bb vs sb and a chop is proposed that one of two things are going to happen....you're either gonna win a small pot, or lose a big one....ive played against this player many times and he knows this...i dont believe he would limp with aa-qq or ak..i like playing like this when a person denies my proposed chop..if you catch a big hand, you can really break someone by playing it aggressively and acting angered throuhgout the pot...as i did here....i was glad with him folding there but if he should raise i was interested to see how much... all-in was a very obscure bet for the situation considering i offered a chop to him...he clearly believed that i was angry and was trying to take him off his hand... do you see where my thinking is?...

Most places, no flop = no drop

There was just a post in another thread about 2 blinds getting all-in, having the same hand at the river, and splitting the pot, but a) they were risking $200 each to win the $4 in blinds that were out there, and b) they split, but since the pot was technically $400, the house took the $4 in blinds as rake - so they both lost.

Playing at Casino AZ, 6-12 I think, I was BB and it was folded around to older guy in SB who completed. I dont remember what hand I had but asked him if he wanted to chop and he gave me a crazy confused look and said "Nawww you take it" and then tossed his cards in the muck. It was dead silent as the dealer pushed me the $12.

I've had that exact thing happen to me at $8/16 @ Bay 101.

I had this happen to me in a 1/2 NL game in Vegas. I dont look until its my turn to act. This guy outright refused to chop when I asked him. I think he thought I was weak or something when I asked, but I hadn't looked yet. So he decided to be a jerk and says "I'm all in!". I look down, check my cards, smile and say...ok, I call.

He's like...WTF. He has rags, and I'm holding AA To top it off, someone asked to see his cards (not me) and it was like J9 or something. I flopped a set btw...lol

Needless to say, next time we were in that situation, he came out and said "I CHOP!!" LOL, the table almost lost it.

he probably did this because he felt embarrased that he didn't offer to chop before completing.

I think one of the reasons people offer to chop is to get everyone onto the next hand and not appear that they are trying to win money playing poker.
