I've never seen anyone bet, cap the turn like that before, but I think 6-8 bets on the last two streets are appropriate depending on the opponent.

flop check and turn cap has me thinking QQ. I probably keep it at 3 on the river, if I raise

He capped preflop then checked the flop. This screams AA or QQ.

I'm not really sure how he 3 bet after you were the initial better on the turn.

But by the river I'd say 4 bets is way too many. If the turn was capped 2 bets on the river is enough imo.

I agree.
He is capping the flop which could mean AA-QQ but the turn cap after you 3 bet means he is not scared of AA or QQ, meaning he does not have KK.
No way can he have 44 or 33 so its down to 2 hands.

Ask yourself how you would play this hand if you had AA.
Is he that aggressive that he can cap with AA, maybe on this non scary board.?

I will say this that there is some player dependance.
A maniac who will ride AQ hard all the way or may cap with 33 or 44 may have some value.
I had a guy cap a 4 handed pot on the PP-15-30 the other day with Q7s so anything is possible

i think you have to just call down the 3-bet on the river and against some opponents you may just slow down on the turn too. the preflop/flop/then relentless turn/river action is really screaming out QQ.
