Default Preflop agression question

Party Poker 15/30 Hold'em (8 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. CO posts a blind of $15.
UTG calls, 3 folds, CO (poster) checks, 2 folds, Hero ??

What are the benefits of raising here and do they outweigh the negatives?

thanks for the help

I'd like opinions on this one. Every once in a while I check here and see how the flop develops.

Party 15/30:
I have Ah Qh in the BB.
UTG and UTG+1 limp. LP limps. Eveyone else folds.

Should I raise every time? Any exceptions?

I'd probably raise both. I wouldn't raise A4s though if not for the poster. The poster likely has a pretty weak holding as I think the raising range for a typical CO poster is pretty wide here. If you can get heads up with A-high and 1.67 BB's of dead money it can't be a bad thing. The 15/30 is a $10 SB right? I find it interesting that the SB folded in both examples.

checking would be really bad, especially since you're suited

At 15/30, would the As4s be a three bet if the CO poster had raised instead of checking? My inclination says yes, but I have limited 15/30 experience.

I know that personally, when I post a blind in the CO in a 1/2 SB game, I usually follow Ciaffone's advice and 'raise first, then look at my cards.'

Why are you raising a weak hand with no fold equity OOP?

I raise, I think you may collect the sb and the cutoff enough times to warrant the raise.
Let alone the chances you have the best hand and the ability to take it down on the flop if a K or Q flops.

Why wouldn't you have any fold equity? If the CO halfway liked his hand (or was an aggressive player), he would have raised it himself. To him, your hand will look like a much bigger hand than it actually is, since he will reason you could have checked and taken a flop with any weak holding.

You're getting 2.66:1 to make the play, and many times you will take it down with a flop bet.
