you played it perfectly i think.

you were out of position, so it would be drastic to check on the turn in fear of the unlikely straight and be faced with a big bet. you wouldn't know where you were.

since the villian was just calling you down, it's hard to put him on the straight. plus, the bet on the river is small enough to get away from if you're raised aggressively, so yes, your river bet was good.
