Default Super System 2, Stud H/L question

For those who have read Super System 2, is the Stud H/L section adequate for a relative newcomer? Is all of the information accurate?

Some of the things are for tougher games, and not really built towards the newb games, but most of it is accurate. Todd Brunson is pretty damn good. Just don't try to do anything fancy.

I didn't find any certain problems with accuracy but you must always factor in the universal "it depends". Different games play very differently. Higher limit Stud 8 games with small bet to ante ratios of 4:1 or 5:1 where play is usually very fast are quite a different animal from low limits which are often passive and frequently sport ratios of 10:1.

Another factor to consider when evaluating Brunson's section is the fact that while welcome and I think generally excellent it is hardly comprehensive. Adequate maybe, since everyones mileage varies, but a true newbie would benefit from additional emphasis on basics not possible in a single 46 page chapter.

It's good, and there isn't any dangerously wrong information, although I have a few hairs to split (I'll get to that some day). If you're going to play this game, however, you need Ray Zee's high-low split book.

I agree, Zee's big is the cat's pajamas. You posted you had some small objections to Brunson's section in another post, let's hear em!

Andy, you keep teasing us by noting that you've got objections, but you haven't posted them yet. So what are they? I think discussing one or more of your hair splits could lead to some interesting stud/8 threads.

The SS2 Stud/8 section is excellent for a beginner - it describes whys and hows of what/what not to be doing. There was something in it that made me frown I remmeber; maybe something advising about pumping the pot, so you have odds to chase later.

So, sure, read it, then get Zee's book.
