Default A flop decision that I found interesting

New table. No reads. I apologize if this is standard.

Party Poker 10/20 Hold'em (8 handed)

Preflop: I am MP1 with 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG posts a blind of $10.
UTG (poster) checks, UTG+1 calls, I call, BB raises, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, I call.

Flop: (8.50 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players)
BB bets, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, I....

What is your plan for the rest of the hand?

If there were fewer opponents or if you were to act right behind the BB, then a raise might be in order. Even given that, if the BB is rockish and wouldn't raise out of the blind without a big pair, then a fold is correct.

With two callers before the action gets to you on the flop a fold is a no brainer.

Folding here seems weak. Why is that wrong? (Keep in mind UTG is a poster.)

fold, you aint got the odds to improve, and its very unlikely youll be able to win a showdown, if your pos. was different and you had the poss. to knock out some players maybe raise, but here fold.

For you to be ahead, you need the following parlay. BB needs to not have a big pair and missed the flop with AK or AQ and UTG and UTG+1 need to be on a club draw or calling with just a 5 or a 2. On top of that you won't like any club, or any paint on the turn. Even getting 10:1, just fold and move on.

I'm trying to be contrarian here, but I can't. Fold it.

you might have the implied odds to chase your set for 1 SB, but the club redraw is too likely. Raising this seems suicidal. The number of times the turn gets checked around and you end up winning at the river has got to be on the small side of 1%.

cheers,
highland

Do you really think the range of hands that will call on the flop here is that small?

EASY call, if utg posted he could have anything. The bb could easily have no pair utg+1 doesnt have a jack 80% of the time, I would agree that the range of hands that their calling the flop with is way bigger than club draw or jack. Call see what devolops on the turn, I would almost certainly raise a safe turn and see what bb does.

Why do I necessarily have to improve?
