Mistake to raise flop
No read yet, but BB was not playing obviously loose.
I took a shot on the flop. Big mistake? Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is MP with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero calls, 3 folds, BB checks. Re: Mistake to raise flop
Open limping KQo 6 handed is bad. Raise that bad boy.
Flop is an easy fold. He could be bluffing with less than King high but so what? The pot is 3.5SB after he bets and it isn't worth fighting over at all. |

Re: Mistake to raise flop
the preflop play is hideous.
If you raise preflop, you get into the driver's seat on this flop and it's easier to play. |

Re: Mistake to raise flop
Yes, I screwed up the pre-flop. What happened there was that there was a big turnover of players on that hand (it was a 10 man table) and I didn't even realize it was down to six players. The other 4 were sitting down, but didn't post. I guess it was a loss of focus because I thought I was in early position in a large field.

Re: Mistake to raise flop
This is a mandatory raise PF. If you don't openraise KQo next time I will come to your house and beat you severely about the head.
I'd just call the flop, then fold the turn. |

[/ QUOTE ] FWIW I'm raising this from early position in a large field anyway. I like raising. If the pot was bigger I might contemplate raising the flop against a passive player, checking behind on a non-K/Q turn and check/folding the river UI. In a 3.5 SB pot, you really might as well just let him have it. |

Re: Mistake to raise flop
Raise KQo PF regardless of how many players there are. 10-handed, 6-handed, 2-handed, 17-handed... raise them all.

Re: Mistake to raise flop
I promise to raise next time - as long as I'm not asleep at the wheel and notice there's only 6 players in the hand not 10.

Re: Mistake to raise flop
Fold the flop or call and fold the turn UI if he bets again.
But please don't raise the flop in this situation regularily, it's pure chip spewing. Flop bluff raises have little value at 1/2. Did you think you would get a free card? And even if so, KQ is NOT a hand that you really want a free card HU. If you raised preflop, then villian checks to you so you bet. If he calls and checks the turn it's probably better to bet again (with the agreement that it's the last money you put in UI). This gives villian 2 chances to fold, and lets you see a free showdown. If you check the turn, villian is much more likely to bet the river with almost any made hand, and also many bluffs HU. And yeah, raise preflop. |
