Heres one that may be interesting. I was goign to 3 bet PF the loose raiser, but with a cold call behind me and with position I opted to cold call and see a flop that looked relatively safe. I probably should have still three bet though. Anyone like this line?

Could you explain the theory of the CC with your 5's

Could you explain the theory of the CC with your 5's [/ QUOTE ] Well not a theory per se, but it was situational here. Depends on the original raiser and first cold caller whether or not I even play these here. I could very well fold. The original raiser was the villain from my AK hand, I really gave that raise little to no respect. The cold caller was very passive and didnt play a lot of pots at all. Not a good player but he wasn't the raising type he just called but after the few hands I had on him I had him figured as a turn folder. Now, with 55 there on the button against a LAG and a loose cold calleing turn foling type, I strongly considered three betting the 55. I really did. Im not a big fan of cold calling in general as this is why I posted this hand. I called not only to just flop a set (as some people would do only) I called bacuse its quite likely if low cards flop (or a pair in this instance) I can take the pot on the turn. I think in this situation 55 is a nice "floating" hand where you can make a move on the turn to take the pot on this type of board. Also, not related to your question but raising the flop here is a bad idea. Nobody is folding overs and if you raise they will probably peel the turn card as well. I decided to raise and non A or K turn card to represent the 8 and still likely with the best hand. Any way , if called I can always take the free showdown with position, it gives me more folding equity when my hand is extremely vulnerable. When it got checked to me on the turn, the bet was automatic though. |

Bunky:
Let me show my 6 max noobness. I am not sure I get the preflop cold call, nor do I really see a preflop 3-bet as being all that great of an option. I just don't think that you are going to see tons of flops that you would consider favorable for your hand (the one you got is pretty good, though). What am I missing here. Are you assured excessive action if you flop a set? Do these guys fold too much postflop, allowing you to "float" with a wide range of hands? Getting in 4:2 or 6:2 with 55 does not seem like a long term profitable situation. Flame away. --Rico |
