Default limit hold em by baldwin in supersystem one

I have heard that the strategy in here is outdated because the blind structure has changed. In what areas is Baldwin's advice outdated for today?

Hi Fish:

My opinion is different. It was pretty good but it was also written for a game that doesn't exist today. This was a very mecahnical game that had very small pots and almost a three tier betting structure of $5 before the flop, $10 on the flop, and $20 on the turn and river.

(Before the flop wasn't exactly $5. The initial bet and raise was $5, but once there was a raise of $5 the next raise could now be $10. However, since most pots do not go to three bets before the flop, most hands were played with a three tier structure.)

Thus the section has advice to not check raise and to fold flush draws if a pair is on board among other things. It's my opinion that if you just do these two things today in today's modern structure, you cannot win.

Best wishes,
Mason
