Overprotecting my BB? ...\"value bet\" bottom pair?
Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (8 handed) converter
UTG is 33/8/1.6 SB is 26/6/1.6 Preflop: Hero is BB with 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG calls, 3 folds, SB raises, Hero calls, UTG calls. Flop: (6 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players) SB bets, Hero raises, UTG folds, SB calls. Turn: (5 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls. River: (7 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) SB checks, Hero checks. Final Pot: 7 BB First did I miss a "value" bet on the river? Second, is this over protecting my BB? Running a "me as BB against a steal attempt" filter in PT over my last 15K 3/6 hands I am losing .47 BB/hand. This seems pretty significant and I'm starting to try stop overprotecting. This hand isn't technically a blind steal--does the UTG limper justify the Preflop call? |

terrible pre flop call.
I fold that 101/100 times. |

I like your post flop play. Preflop I think you need about 3 more limpers to call the raise.

Re: Overprotecting my BB? ...\"value bet\" bottom pair?
Cool thanks for the advice thats helpful...
Hearing what situation you would make this preflop call in is helpful to me. I felt OK about the postflop part but wasn't sure about the river. The pair of 9s and the 3 flush stopped me from betting the river--for better or for worse. |

I would never make that call preflop. I do not think your missing a value bet on the river either.

Re: Overprotecting my BB? ...\"value bet\" bottom pair?
I don't understand the postflop play, it seems like you are setting yourself up to lose the most and win the least. Did you put SB on overcards? SB might be backing off to raise the turn (if he has something good) Or he might just call to the river if he's not sure his middle pair is best. I don't see you ahead most of the time here. Maybe I am completely wrong

Re: Overprotecting my BB? ...\"value bet\" bottom pair?
Fold preflop. This call would actually be better if it were heads up, because you get to play in position against a partially defined hand, very profitable, although I would probably fold even if it were heads up, I like to call most hands here, but having a 52 and all, yeah fold.
I think you missed a bet on the river, ace high calls all the time in these situations. |
