Re: expert play ? QQ
Why did you smooth call the flop?

Re: expert play ? QQ
expert play ?
Uhh well maybe but probably not. The problem with calling on the flop is that you don't know MP1 will bet again. If he has a draw and will check the turn to you, it does little good to just call on the flop. The standard play here is to raise the flop because you are unsure if you can get that raise in on a later street. Since you don't have any reads here, you should raise the flop. Brad |

Even if you didn't have the Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], still raise the flop.

Re: expert play ? QQ
More of a question than a comment.
At the river you're getting 17 to 1. Odds are good that the BB, that ace chasing loser, just caught. But are they better than or worse than 17 to 1? Ed Miller had that great post about not folding for one bet on the river. This looks to me like one of those spots. Glintir I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken |

Far from it. Terrible play on all streets!
You have to raise the flop to get rid of BB and see where you stand! Waiting to raise on the turn is a big mistake here. You don't have a clue what he has he could be on a set or even full house on turn for all you know. If BB had A rag or maybe AT he would have folded to a flop raise. Then you would be HU and you could call MP1 down. If MP1 was on a semibluff with the flush draw and BB had an A you would have won this pot.
Also, don't fold the river. The pot is large, you have an overpair, it's only one bet to you vs two players = don't fold. Results? |

Re: Far from it. Terrible play on all streets!
No reads on players?
You have to raise the flop because YOU HAVE THE BEST HAND OUT THERE AT THIS POINT. The PF raiser folded. RAISE THE FLOP. You are behind to 99/TT. KK and AA isn't too likely based on preflop play. If BB wins with the Axo, then he needs to go on the buddy list. However, with the way you played the QQ, he likely had no idea he was too behind. |

Terrible fold on the river. Absolutely terrible.
