.wmv to animated .gif converter?

Anyone know an easy way to make an animated gif out of a wmv file? (one that doesnt involve downloading $40 software and learning how to use it) I think I just wasted an hour of my life googling trying to figure out how to make a cool avatar.

This thing seems to do what you want, and since it's shareware, you can try it for free, then uninstall it. If you only need to do this once, then this might be the way to go.

thanks for the link, that was one of the ones i was looking at. they put a watermark on the images you create during the trial period though.
