Default Correct to check the river, or weak?

No specific knowledge on opponent, lets say you just sat down at table 10 minutes ago. You are first in and raise with A,Qo in MP. Only BB calls your raise.

Flop is rainbow junk, for example 8, 2, 3. BB checks, you bet, he calls.

Same scenario on turn: non-threatening card, check, bet, call.

On the river, board still ordinary, no 3 flush, no obvious straight threat, no pair. Opponent checks. I usually check.

Is this weak, or a correct default line without more knowledge of opponent?

I would need a specific read to bet. I think checking should be the default here. You are never going to get your opponent to fold a pair here, and against most people ace high is not worth a value bet. There are exceptions, but betting is not my default here, and I dont think it should be.

Against some I'll check the turn and call a river bet, but otherwise I think this is standard.

Against who, specifically? Agro players capable of bluff-raising, I assume, but I have to have a real good read on an opponent to take that line.

i would have to know the player maybe he was trying to suck out on you or maybe he also has two over's but depending on the player and the chipstack i think i would of tried to steal....

more likely gisgra is talking about the player who will bluff bet the river with anything, once the turn has been checked thru (and there are alot of these types out there)

Seeems good. He'll call with hands that beat you way way more often than he'll call with hands you beat. This is the easiest of easy river checks.

I think this assumption is correct. Against a player who will not bluff CR the turn, you can safely fold when he does CR the turn. I think the type capable of the bluff CR on the turn are also, as Alobar said, the kind most likely to bet the river regardless of his cards when you check behind on the turn.
