Default The worst play I have ever seen

Playing $25NL on PP . . . just saw a guy check a royal flush on the river. He was last to act. Wow.

question for my british friend:

in england the term "mate" is often used where "friend" would be in america, but is the term also used as a verb in british english? like do animals "mate"?

what about in context of the noun form meaning "the one with which i procreate." like "this elephant's mate is that one because they have baby elephants together."

I guess the use is very confusing in that i see it as analogous to saying "me and my (male) lover went to the bar to watch the game" in american english. then i wonder if the sexualized definition of the word is one that is an american invention?

any help, mate?

fim

i have no idea where the word originates from, it is most definitely a british habit to call ones friend a 'mate' though.

I've very rarely ever heard anyone describe their sexual partner as a mate in the UK.

mate is synonymous with friend around these parts.

when referring to animals though it would mean procreate as a verb and sexual partner as noun.

i don't think i've ever heard anyone use the verb 'mate' to describe sex between two people, hope that helps.
