Re: Good news for our resident hawks
There's this dickhead hawk in Syracuse who always counter protests the anti war protests. He was asked why he wouldn't enlist in the Guard, and he said that at age 38 he was too old. He said that if he was younger he would have.
Now he has no excuse Quads. He still won't do it though. [censored] armchair warrior. |

Re: Good news for our resident hawks
Nice, very good news for our resident pro-war 2+2'ers thirtysomethings. This is the opportunity they were waiting for. I'm pretty sure they can't wait to serve their country.

Re: Good news for our resident hawks
Here we go again with the completely ridiculous "if you support the war, you ought to go join up!" argument again. Its funny in a sad sort of way watching you guys falling over each other over this "news".

Re: Good news for our resident hawks
Why don't you go save some more murderers from the death penalty?

Re: Good news for our resident hawks
A small addendum, for those asking why I'm continuing to post this stuff:
From today's DailyKos : Nightmares of Fallujah Today, I shot pool with a young man. A man who spent most of the last year in Iraq. A young man, who joined the Army in August of 2001, right out of high school, because he thought he would be protecting our country. Our conversation turned on one simple question. "What's morale like over there?" This young man turned immediately somber, tears welling up in his eyes. He looked at me and said, "It just f_cking sucks man, it just f_cking sucks...". He went on to relate stories of soldiers lying awake at night, sobbing. How they think that nobody cares anymore. They are hated at home for fighting a war even they admit is based on lies, and they are hated there for just being there. He spoke of watching friends lose limbs from roadside bombs. Of constantly looking over your shoulder, never knowing who'll be the one to get you. Of watching fellow soldiers fall in the alleys of Fallujah. And of how those events haunt him each night as he falls off to sleep. And of how he is fearful of seeking counsel because his career is in the military and it would be held against him. This young man; who missed his child's first birthday, his first steps and his first words; whose son is a stranger to him; cannot seek solace in his family. They are all Bush supporting republicans who want to hear nothing of what he faced. I listened for hours. ... It is more than likely he will go back. And he is scared to death of that possibility. q/q |
