Default \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (3/18)

My thread's late, but it's close enough. Anyway, tonight's show is going to be the $500 min NL game, so expect the usual array of large pots, running the river multiple times, and other good stuff.

I don't think he wants to go broke $500 at a time. The cast of characters at the $500 game have created some 5K+ pots in the past.

Is this broadcast expensive for the casino which is why they only do 4 hours wednesday thru saturday? They can't afford to do it longer? Just curious why they couldn't just do a live stream 24/7 assuming they do already have the bandwidth in the first place...could explain the subscription costs for the archive too... hmmm

Seat 8 was the man...I was sad to still see him playing and the broadcast had already ended not being able to watch him throw those chips around making those great all in plays...

The plan all along was to charge for the broadcast after a certain amount of time. Also, you need to pay someone to put up the hole cards, operate cameras, commentate (if needed) and that surely takes up a bit of manpower.

EDIT: Here's a
link to the original article, the Bike was hoping for 20,000 paying subscribers, for $4.8m a year in revenue if projections held up.

I thought I heard someone talking about optical card readers...didnt know the cards are punched in manually...still could watch without knowing the hole cards as long as the zoom works so we can see the cards on the board...just a thought
