Default simple question, TT UTG

While participating in a conversation at an online forum far less insightful than this one, there recently arose a thread in which a person said he had TT UTG, in a wild loose aggressive game. He asked what he should do. Many people said call, a few donks said fold, and I said raise, and not only that but I always raise with TT utg in any game. People seemed to think that TT is not an auto-raise UTG, I think it is. Who agrees, disagrees, if its a sometimes what conditions make TT raiseable/unraisable?

I'm guessing that a time to limp with TT UTG is if you expect a limp will attract many callers, making going for the set profitable, but a raise has little chance of leaving you heads up or stealing the blinds. Its similar to JJ in HFAP. The worst number of callers for JJ is two I think (or maybe three) preflop.

Only time I limp w/ TT is when I'm sitting w/ a maniac on my left who will raise it for me. Other than that... Raise.

This can sometimes bite you in the ass if someone tries a reisolation move and 3 bets the maniac. I think raising and letting the maniac 3 bet works even better.

well said. Depends on limit or nolimit and texture of the table. I've started to limp tt-qq more utg cause when you face a big reraise in nl and you're out of position, you find yourself putting in a lot of money preflop and playing for set value. I don't think limping qq utg is a crime and certainly don't think limping tt there is. You get in a lot more pots with a better chance of busting an overpair.
That being said, mix it up. People shouldn't have a read if you limp utg. I limp ak here at times as well. Nowadays, raising a hand like tt here is just a posturing move, just as I would sometimes raise with 55-77 here for a little deception. Can't tell you how many times I've seen people misread an utg raise after utg sets his sixes.

Why? If I'm next to act after someone open raises, why not pop it again to get all the overcards out?

the post was intended for limit. Though I think I pretty much always open-raise UTG with TT in NL as well. That having been said, I'm not that great of a NL player, so I'd be open to other approaches. But, in limit I think I always raise.
