Default Get Shorty

Last Friday night I was playing in a local cardroom and the player on my right (a kid who was extremely fishy), kept going broke then pulling out a $20 and buying another stack of chips. The minimum buy in at this table was $30 but it was not being enforced (it was a $3/6). Shorty did this like 3 times until he was tapped out. I relieved him of at least half.

When Shorty tapped out, another kid (with requisite shades) sat down and pulled the same [censored]. I didn't say anything, because he was as bad as Shorty I and also donating to my bankroll.

But I wonder, if I had said something would:

1. The dealer or floor enforced the buyin?
2. My donators have up and left?
3. Would I have made more money on the hands where they went
all in and lost (all of them)?

You did right. Don't tap the aquarium.

Yes, it is a pain in the ass.

Yes, it was against the rules.

But, just keep stacking their chips.

1. They should, and usually will. Note that some clubs have a full-short-full-short rule. Some clubs have a "one short buy per table" rule. The initial buy-in must always be full.

2. If you informed them nicely, I doubt it. If they were clueless newbies, they probably didn't even know the rule. If you were rude about it, they probably wouldn't have left, but they might stay out of your pots.

3. Hard to say. Sometimes players will play a marginal hand knowing they can only loose X. If they have more in front of them, they might not start down an expensive path.

First of all, this is basically free money. If he had 200$ in front of him he probably wouldn't piss it away as fast. I love when these players sit down, they are at a disadvantage and are usually terrible.

If you called the floor, most floors would say he had to buy in at the minimum but several would let it slide. Your donators would not donate as much. And yes, if they had more money they would lose more but not if they changed their style because they might lose more than 20$. Don't tell the floor.
