Easy fold?
Early in the Pokerstars NL holdem tournament... I have T1500 left. I am dealt QQ in late middle position... everyone has about the same. Blinds are 10-20...
I make it 60 to go... The cut-off raises it to 140 and the SB makes it T600 to go. What do you do? The cut-off is a little on the aggressive side, and I don't know the SB. What do you think? |

Re: Easy fold?
Early in a PS tourney, you are prob. ahead. Still, I would fold if I didn't know the players.

Re: Easy fold?
It is never easy folding QQ, but this appears to be a valid time. Is it possible he is getting cute with a big ace or a small pair, sure.

Re: Easy fold?
I think if you are one of the better players in the tournament, fold and wait for better opportunities. Queens are not a strong enough hand to risk going broke. Just stay alive early and then outplay your opponents when it matters most.
If the competition looks tough to you, gambling a little is probably your best option - reraise all in and hope to double or triple up. best of luck, soda |

Re: Easy fold?
With analysis I think it's an easy fold. You're only 60 in and almost certainly are a 50% chance at best to win (AK).
In the heat of the tournament it's easy to think someone's trying to take advantage, and push it all in. Without any more info on the other 2 players, it's a clear fold. (With my 50 or so online tournaments and 1 reading of Sklansky's book I'm now qualified to give such advice!!lol) |

Re: Easy fold?
I folded as you may have guessed.
The button called time and after like 45 seconds folded as well, so I didn't even get to see what they had... I actually ended up winning the tournament (split the top 3 spots $700 a piece), but both the players involved in the pot with me were also at the final table... One split the top 3 with me. I have some questions on this tournament I will post above.. Thanks for your responses, |
