There is one casino close to mexico and that's it. Otherwise i have to drive to Louisiana. Any ideas? Help is appreciated as i am jonesing.

Re: Poker in houston
from Houston to Lake Charles is only about 2.5 hours. Not too bad. There are a few clubs around Houston (raked) and millions of home games I'm sure. Just need to get your foot in the door with a home game and branch out from there..

Re: Poker in houston
There are so many live games in Houston it is unreal. I would start searching for those, and save yourself the trip.

Re: Poker in houston
Go to Lake Charles and make small talk with other players at the table. Tell them you are from Houston and don't like the drive. Someone will inevitably hook you up with one of the local rooms here in Houston or tell you who to call. It might take more than one visit, but you'll find out quickly. All you have to do is get your foot in the door and you'll be able to find a game 24/7, whether at home or in a room.
Then you can occasionally drive to Lake Charles for the tournaments, the low rake (and, errrrr, the legality) or you can just go play in one of the rooms (or someone's home) when you don't feel like driving. Houston is a very easy place to find a game. Good luck. |
