Personal Anthem?
I used to work at this shipping yard to pay for school and I would say half of these guys thought Bob Segar's "Turn The Page" described their life. They were for the most part truck drivers so i can see the connection.
Any of you guys have a personal anthem? A song that you hear and go "Yeah that's me" or you hear it and it just seems right on. It's a good describer of the people we are, what we value, and of course the kind of music we like. I think mine is Incubus - "Make Yourself" As I am a passionate conformist non-conformist. |

Re: Personal Anthem?
Two songs: "Turn, Turn, Turn" by the Byrds and Tim Magraw's "Live Like You Were Dying".
The first has always seemed to describe my life and the second because I was diagnosed last year with terminal lung cancer. Dean |

Re: Personal Anthem?
Few years ago I would have said some Jawbreaker song, maybe "In Sadding Around," or some other good-but-not-popular end of an album track.
Shortly thereafter would have gone with a Leatherface song like "Springtime" or "Discipline." At some point it would have to have been Morphine, "Cure for Pain" or maybe "The Night." When I was very young would have said Van Morrison, "Jackie Wilson Said..." During a brief and embarassing time I might have picked a rap song, but that would clearly have been wrong. If I had to choose one right now it would probably be one of about a dozen different Tom Waits songs, or else "If I Should Fall From Grace with God" by the Pogues. NT |
