Poker Cruises?
Anybody have any positive or negative experiences with poker cruises like the Party Poker Million?
Are the ring games plentiful and organized? Do you need a passport? |

Re: Poker Cruises?
Forget about the passport quesiton. From Pokerstars.com:
Q. Do I need a passport to get to the Bahamas? A. Requirements for entry into the Bahamas can be viewed at the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism website. For U.S. and Canadian citizens there are alternatives to the passport requirement. For example, an official birth certificate (with a raised stamp or red ink) along with an official government issued Photo ID. The U.S. Government offers an expedited service whereby a passport can be obtained in about 2 weeks. |

Re: Poker Cruises?
I went on a Card Player Cruise in 2001 (Eastern Caribbean). Games were plenty at all limits, daily tournaments, poker room always packed. Great floor people, dealers, etc.
Just a great time. Highly recommend it. I will never cruise again unless its a CPC. NJC |

Re: Poker Cruises?
What is the action like on a Card Player cruise? In my head I imagine that the majority of players on a poker cruise are going to be fairly experienced at poker (ie. the games could be pretty tough).

Re: Poker Cruises?
The Action was tremendous. You have to understand that people who take these cruises are on Vacation. There were really no serious types. Just people who a) wanted Action and b) Wanted to have fun. Also the poker room is only for Card Player Cruise passengers. Not open to the general public. It was a great group and since you will be playing with the same people over and over again it was quite cohesive. Really a nice relaxed, friendly environment. Dealers are hand picked by Jan Fisher and Linda Johnson so you know you are getting quality. Games are spread pretty much to whatever the group wants. On my cruise there were alot of repeat customers. Something that proves its a great value.
If you have any other questions, let me know. |

Re: Poker Cruises?
An excerpt from the CPC website:
How old do you have to be to gamble on a cruise? You have to be 18 years old to play poker in our poker room or play other games in the casino. Certain tournaments, such as the Party Poker Million, require a higher age limit. |

Card Player readers are the ones more likely to be knowledgeable in poker. I'd rather play against random guy X who came on the cruise and just happened to stumble into the poker room than a card player subscriber who came on the cruise to play poker. I don't doubt your claim though, I just wonder how it can happen that the games are soft when the players are card player readers and/or care enough about poker that they plan their cruise vacation around it. The atmosphere of the poker room does sound great. Thanks for the info - I've looked into these cruises a few times but never gone. |

[/ QUOTE ] Like I said, my Cruise was filled with players who craved action and lit their money on fire. Just because someone reads CardPlayer doesn't make them a solid player. Jan Fisher, Linda Johnson and the rest of the CP Staff network with alot of people in and around the poker world. As such you have alot of casual players and recreational players who are looking for a good time. Again, the cardroom is a very relaxed environment. I might go on the Dec trip btw. NJC |
