Default simple computer problem

hey

i got an hp laptop and have been unable to take screenshots of my desktop. this is a bit of a pain in the ass for cutting/pasting stats.

i've tried the "print screen" "print screen + sys rq" (they are on different buttons) and alt + print screen + sys rq and none of them have put a screenshot that i can paste into photoshop.

does anyone have this problem with hp laptops? i was able to take screenshots of my older computer back at home quite easily.

thanks

I have a Compaq Presario X1000 which I imagine has a similar layout as your laptop.

I just hit the blue Fn button at the same time as the insert button (has "prt sc" as the function) and I was able to paste in paintbrush so I it looks like my print screen is functioning properly.

My first reaction was to make a sarcastic remark about your computer knowledge but I decided to try to be helpful instead.

Still not quite sure how you couldn't figure this one out.

Another tip: Alt+Print Screen will capture the active window instead of the entire screen.
