Was I totally stupid to call this bet? I knew that the only card that beat me was the Ace. In hindsight I think I was dumb and should have given up whatever I had in the pot, because at best I was going to halve the pot or lose even more. I also did not take to heart, no pun intended, that he called my two-third pot bet on flop. I think that his is probably one of my biggest mistakes, not taking into account the call on the continuation/probe bet. Hand #1 - I'm sot sure I see what you're calling with on the river here. Your call puts you almost into <10BB desperation mode, you're getting less that 2:1 from the pot, and any single heart >6 beats you. UTG's flop call on a monotone board tells you he has a hand, probably including a heart. I would fold here 100% of the time.
[ QUOTE ] In hindsight I think I was dumb and should have given up whatever I had in the pot [/ QUOTE ] Don't think this way. Those chips are no longer yours, make your decisions based on the odds the pot is laying you, not on how much you personally have invested to that point. Hand #2 - I think a smaller flop raise (T200 or so) would accomplish the same goal here, but you pushed, he called and outdrew you. It happens. |
