Default Getting a Friend Started on Micro Limit: Recommended Reading?

I only have two 2+2 books:

Hold'em Poker for Advanced Players
SSHE

Which do you think is better? He has just been playing no-limit recreationally for a bit but has stated he wants to learn limit which is surprising.

hmmm...which do you think is better reading for small stakes play: the book written for small stakes, or the one written for mid/high stakes?

Honestly? I might get shunned for this on a 2+2 board, but I'd start him off with WLLH by Lee Jones. It's easier to understand and it'll start him off playing decent poker. When he gets a feel for that, he can graduated to SSH and learn how to play much much better poker. Then make him read TOP.

Totally agree. WLLH is the right book for a new newbie.

WLLHE is okay (it was my 2nd book after Helmuth ), but I think Internet Texas Hold'em will be worth the read for him. If you only have a choice I use ITH, but get both to start with if you can.

I started with WLLH. It helped me become a marginal winner at nano-limits when I first started playing.

That being said I say screw WLLH and go str8 to SSHE if you are willing tohelp him digest it. Jones tells you to fold pocket K's when an A flops ( I used to do this BTW.) No reason he should ever read that and have to unlearn a weak tight style that can be very difficult to break.

Guide him though it though. Have him print out the starting hands chart in the FAQ at the top of this forum. Make sure he understands the counting and discounting outs section and caution him against raising all the time with middle pair.

I third WLLHE. Very good book for rank beginners.

Does Jones tell you to fold KK when an Ace flops really? I don't remember that. I will look.
