Default 5/10 NL 6Max - 99

UTG I'm dealt 99 and make it $40.

UTG+1 calls. He's a very solid, pretty tight player, who I have a lot of respect for.

2 folds, SB calls, BB calls.

SB is pretty LAG like myself, 28/12, aggressive postflop. I'd probably peg him as an average player in this game.

AT9, 2 diamonds.
SB chks, BB chks, I bet $125, UTG+1 calls, SB calls, BB folds.

4d
SB chks, I chk, BB bets $350, SB calls, I call.

I'm now pretty sure I'm behind, I think UTG+1 has the flush and maybe SB has 2pr/a big diamond.

River is a brick.

I suddenly change my mind. I realise there's no way I can lay down comfortably in a pot of this size.

SB checks, I push my last $440.

I am called in both spots.

If your reads are correct, it looks like you need to fold this turn. Assuming you're looking at top 2 and a flush, you are drawing to 4 outs. Maybe 6 if SB has 910 or A9.

On the river, why not just check call if you don't think your hand is good but you're not willing to fold?

how many hands do you have? what are your current results?
i think 28/12 is too loose.

the river play is idiotic.

Because 99 is a big hand 6 handed.

If I hit a set, I may win a big pot. If I miss, I may take it down uncontested.

Over my first 10k hands I seem to have been hitting sets about 1/3 of the time. Dats coo'.

That you raise UTG and get 2 callers (we will discount BB assuming he's on a drawing hand and feels he is getting sufficient odds) shows either that the players a) have no respect for you, or b) are holding strong hands. That you weren't reraised gives you very little insight into what they can be holding.

You've made an error in your post saying BB folds at the flop then calls at the turn. I'm assuming on the turn you meant UTG+1.

On the flop I like a check rather than a bet, and come over the top if UTG+1 makes a bet. I understand you want to bet out to protect against the flush and lessen the field, but by betting out in that position with 4 players in the pot you're announcing you're holding either AA, AK, TT, 99, or possibly ATs (which they can narrow down further given what they are holding), and have very little idea what the others are holding. You also have to be prepared to fold set because it really isn't as strong as you think it is.

With 2 callers on the flop the only hand you can beat realistically is an unlikely AK, who isn't feeling too great about his hand anyway. Turn is an easy fold, surely by then you've figured out you're behind. Its hard to play in that position as you can't bet out knowing you're probably beat, and a check cues a near-certain bet by UTG+1. Check-fold there I think, especially with SB calling before you after UTG+1's bet, but you shouldn't be in that position to begin with.

River is indeed a brick because you shouldn't be in the hand anyway.

Yeah, true, thanks. Too late to edit it now.
