Ace-Ten vs. solid player
Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (10 handed) converter
Preflop: Hero is MP1 with T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 3 folds, Hero calls, 2 folds, CO raises, 3 folds, Hero calls. Flop: (5.50 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets, CO calls. Nice flop. Top pair, heads up, and CO didn't raise me. Turn: (3.75 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets, CO raises, Hero calls. What would he PFR and raise here with? QQ? AQ? Hmmm River: (7.75 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, CO bets, Hero calls. Can't really tell where I'm at here, and top pair is too good to lay down heads up= check/call. Final Pot: 9.75 BB Like the title says, my read on CO was that he was pretty solid- one of the tighter players at the table, and usually had the goods at showdown. I'd like comments on my turn and river play, thanks. |

Re: Ace-Ten vs. solid player
This line is 100% opposite of the line I'd suggest: I'd check and call the flop, then check and call the turn, then bet the river. As you played it I think you should fold to the turn raise.

Re: Ace-Ten vs. solid player
Don't open limp PF. Open for a raise or not at all.

[/ QUOTE ] I've seen you suggest the check/call check/call bet/fold line often HU. Could you give me some reasoning behind it, or pg#'s i should re-read somewhere. reasons i see: you have a good hand that you want to showdown the bet/fold river will prevent a unimproved checkthrough by villian by checking you may induce bluffs which otherwise might not call your bet how offten do you use this HU when you flop a good hand against a pre-flop agressor? |

Re: Ace-Ten vs. solid player
It maximizes wins when ahead, and minimizes losses when behind in a hand where you are unsire of where you are at. TPMK is a classic example.

Re: Ace-Ten vs. solid player
Nice job getting isolated by a better player and paying him off.

Re: Ace-Ten vs. solid player
My HUSH play obviously needs work, since that approach seems initially so bad, but I definitely see how it is best here. How would you play this hand if instead our hero had position? Would you play it like CO? Only raise the river instead?
Thanks |

Re: Ace-Ten vs. solid player
You would usually be folding AT against a raise, even with position.
If you somehow managed to cold-call pre-flop w/ AT against a reasonable player, and the flop came Ace high, I would just call down or bet when checked to. I don't want him to stop betting if I'm winning, and I don't want him to start raising if I'm losing. |
