River Call with AK?
Villian has a 37% VP$IP 1% RPF(raise preflop) and Aggression of 1.71
I called because i thought he could have missed a draw or was betting a weaker hand. BTW what is your standard line with hands like AKs/AQ EP or first in. Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed) converter MP3 ($113.66) CO ($139.1) Button ($96.7) SB ($213) BB ($29) UTG ($180.21) UTG+1 ($121.59) Hero ($173.75) MP2 ($118.3) Preflop: Hero is MP1 with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.5. UTG calls $1, 1 fold, Hero raises to $5, 6 folds, UTG calls $4. Flop: ($11.50) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG checks, Hero bets $10, UTG calls $10. Turn: ($31.50) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG checks, Hero checks. River: ($31.50) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG bets $25, Hero calls $25. Final Pot: $81.50 |

Re: River Call with AK?
Why did you bet the missed flop, then check the turn when you actually hit your card? Also, this is a pretty drawless board, so UTG probably didn't miss a draw.
I'd bet $20 on the turn to see where your at here. Given your question about calling the river bet, I'm usually calling here, but would probably expect to see two pair with an ace about half of the time. |

Well I dont think you can fold this river...but I think you are behind a good deal of the time. Pot just got way too big. The sadddest part of all is on PP yu might get shown A10s...YUCK.

Re: River Call with AK?
Heres my thinking on the turn. I hit exactly the card i'm looking for, but since i'm out of position i dont want to make a bigger pot. If i bet say 20 bucks and oppenent calls, where do i stand? do i check the river? do i bet and fold to a reraise? so id rather play weak and check call to keep the pot small. Plus i disguise my hand. The one thing that is flawed is that i am giving him free cards to draw out on me.
I was going to be the river myself on the seemingly blank card, but the villian fires out oa 25 dollar bet. The bet does seem too be a lot, some what of an over bet. Missed draw? 2 pair? i thought there was a good chance my hand was good so i call Btw i bet the flop hard to see if i can shake over cards because i'm trying to represent an over pair. I can't just check/fold because there are so many hands like 55 which would fold the flop to a hand like mine. |

[ QUOTE ] Perfect. [/ QUOTE ] yeah, i play this very similarly. [/ QUOTE ] Me too. Checking behind on the turn when you hit after autobetting your missed overcards on the flop is a good line, particularly if there isn't much in the way of draws on the board. You'll often get a river bet from a hand that would have otherwise given up. Betting the turn will also get you check-raised at times, and although your tptk is a pretty good hand you generally don't want that. nh. |
