Default Movin\' on up... Is this what it\'s gonna be like? (10,000 hands)

How much of a win-rate hit can a person expect moving from Party .50/1 to 1/2? Obviously the players will be a bit better, on average, but how much better?

The reason I ask:

5,000+ hands Party .50/1 -- VPIP 17.6, PFR 8.3, BB/100 7.5
5,000+ hands Party 1/2 -- VPIP 17.8, pfr 8.8, BB/100 1.6

All other important stats (with that one obvious exception...) are likewise similar at the two levels. In other words, I'm playing pretty much the same. Could that be part of the problem?

Ignore these stats, if you like. (I recognize that my sample size is small enough that the hit to my win rate probably doesn't actually mean as much as it FEELS like it means.) I'm really just curious to hear other players' experiences with the move, and if anyone had to make significant adjustments to his/her game.

Thanks in advance. You guys rock.

sample size is way to small to be concerned with win rates. i think the biggest reason win rates drop when you move to 1/2 is that there are much less players chasing long shot draws, there are much less "aceholes". the ones who cold call any ace, and call to the river trying to spike it. in my expierence, most of the fish at 1/2 are vpip 30-35. instead of >50 like it is at .50/1.00. most of my profit from 1/2 comes from finding a maniac and milking him dry. i wouldnt worry too much about that win rate until you hit 100k.

Now is it true that 2-4 is juicier than 1-2?

I think so, but I suggest you rough it out at 1/2 for a while anyway.

probably, since at 1/2 they offer 6max- which always seem to draw away the action junkies from the full tables.

In another thread it was mentioned that playing scared and having too much respect for your opponents could influence your results in the beginning.

Perhaps you don't play the exact same game, even if the stats are the same?

Also, I would assume that overall tighter games would lead to smaller BB/100 even if you win the same number of pots in otherwise similar situations.

Both your winrates are totally meaningless after only 5k hands.

Best you can do at .5/1 is likely 4.5 BB/100. And that's for a pretty damn good player.

Best you can do iat 1/2 is likely 3 BB/100.

As mentioned, your sample size is low but having your win rate cut in half from .5/1 to 1/2 seems fairly common. For 20K hands of both I went from 6.5 to 3. Great (and cheap) experience to be had at 1/2 though.

I've had similar growing pains early in my career. Over about 15,000 hands of .5/1, I'm winning at a 4.1/100 rate; in maybe 4,000 hands of 1/2 so far, I'm a marginal loser (around -1/100). The sample size for 1/2 is very small, of course, but right now it seems like I'd have a hard time making as much money at 1/2 as I do at .5/1.

Your stats say nothing about your POST flop play.

What is your total post-flop aggression for both levels?
And how about went to showdown and won at showdown percentages?
