Re: AJo -- too passive, too aggresive or calling station?
Too passive pre-flop, I raise AJ in MP especially if I'm first to act. Flop is fine. Turn is fine. Too passive on the river, you're ahead, raise/reraise.

Raise AJ anywhere. Oops, missed that he raised preflop. Raise the river.

unless he's will to raise 55 preflop, he likely has QQ-AA, given his play on the flop, raise the river
respond to other hands, post what you would do, don't worry about being wrong, you'll learn faster that way |

Re: AJo -- too passive, too aggresive or calling station?
I don't mind your not raising with AJ in early position. I raise with it from middle position though. The reason why is because it sucks to be out of position with AJ when you only flop overcards, much more so than AK or AQ. You also don't know what's behind you: You raise with AJ and someone cold-calls with AQ--you're screwed. Let them raise pf and then you can know to release.
Raise the river, otherwise this looks fine. |

Raise pre-flop. Raise river, he doesn't have A3.

Don't raise the flop. Raise the river.

Your flop reasoning, is this one of those way ahead or way behind scenarios? I ask because I find myself raising in the same situations.

[ QUOTE ]
Your flop reasoning, is this one of those way ahead or way behind scenarios? I ask because I find myself raising in the same situations. [/ QUOTE ] Let's say that the SB will raise AK/AQ and TT+. Is he really going to get into a pissing match with us on the flop with AK/AQ? Doubtful. The best we can hope for is that he has something like TT when he 3-bets the flop. If he has AA-JJ we will get all the action we want drawing to 5 outs or less. So yes this is is a way ahead/behind situation in which we will only get action when we are in bad shape. If we have him drawing to just 3 outs, let him dictate the action by letting him bluff all his money away. Brad |
