Default I\'m pretty sure I\'m behind to a bigger PP

I am pretty sure by that raise I am up against a bigger PP. Calling and trying to hit the set worth the implied odds?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed) converter

MP1 ($103.15)
Hero ($95.5)
MP3 ($205.5)
CO ($146.7)
Button ($96.5)
SB ($90)
BB ($159.7)
UTG ($149.75)
UTG+1 ($99)
UTG+2 ($84.45)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
<font color="#666666">4 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $4</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises to $12</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, Hero calls $8.

personally, im folding here. you already made a substantial raise, to get reraised that much PF means very high pocket pair for most players

Your calling 8 to win 104, If he's your typical party SSNL player, he's not getting away from an big overpair. Call and checkfold if you miss your set.

You don't have enough of an overlay to play for set value here. The reraise is close to 10% of your stack, and you will lose to a higher set close to 20% of the time and occasionally not get paid off (ie flop is ATx and he has KK).

I think it's very close. Depends a lot on how much control you have over the opponent. As soah points out, sometimes he will fold KK on an ATx flop. That means he will also fold KK on an A9x flop. Hmm.... :wheels start cranking:.

Not raising TT preflop would correct this problem. Limp it and call normal raises for set value.

Open-limping in MP2 is not the solution in most games.

I disagree.

sure you can see a flop for cheaper but you lose a lot of value the times when there isn't a bigger pocket pair.

TT is an interesting hand, one that I have won and lost plenty of money on. TT is a flexible hand from MP. Sometimes I raise, hoping to win outright preflop and giving me additional fold equity on the flop, sometimes I limp to try to flop a set.

A re-raise most certainly means an overpair, although some aggressive players will also re-raise with AKs.

I think you may have enough overlay to call here, depending on your read on villain.

Although you are getting only 1:2 pot odds, your implied odds are somewhere between 1:3.6 and 1:12. The implied odds you need to call are about 1:8. That is why this play is very read dependent. I would be more inclined to call vs. aggressive opponents.

Yes, that's great if your goal is to break even, and if your sets never lose.
