Default help with proper table selection online

I've recently started playing online again and I'd like to know what to look for when selecting a table. I've read many times recently that proper table selection is becoming more and more important these days. I play on Party Poker.

Thanks for your help

All of these are huge.

Personally, I use Player View on Party and won’t consider get on a table below 30% VPIP. Over 40% and I'm drooling like Pavlov’s Dog.

I use the join wait list button to join 6 tables. Then, if after a couple orbits the game sucks (based on feel and PT/Playerview stats), I'll leave it. At 3/6, I consider >20 VP$IP for the table to be playable.

Playerview is an extra program you can get... i forget from where, GameTime+ is similar, (thats what I use.. I don't have the .NET extentions installed for PlayerView) they're quite similar, i dunno which is better.

Edit: It is used w/ Pokertracker's Auto-import feature

Online table selection at PartyPoker? Hmm....oh yeah, make sure you get on a table where there are other players sitting down.

I can see your point but Party's $5/10 and $10/20 full ring game tables are definitely worth applying game selection on. They suffer badly from being outnumbered by the 6-max tables and, with a few multitabling rocks, can be pretty awful games at times.

A few months ago the problem seemed to be restricted to $10/20 but its becoming increasing difficult to find decent $5/10 full tables. I landed (briefly) on one the other day where the loosest player had a VPIP of 21%.

$15/30 doesn't suffer from the same problems, as there's a far wider mix of players on most tables. This is not to say its an easier game to beat, but its certainly less of a chore to find a table worth sitting down at.

With regard to method I tend to adopt the approach outlined by an earlier poster - sit down and see how the player stats shape up after a couple of orbits or so.

I rely mostly on my buddy list. With Playerview running, poor players are readily identifiable so you shouldn't have any shortage of buddies.
