KQd: Standard play on one dimond flop
This is my standard play against unknown players. I don't want to fold on the flop to one SB because I have a decent drawing hand. So, call or raise? Raising might be ok to try to go for a free card, but there are 2 people behind me. Plus, I think my hand is too weak for raising. So, this is how I usually play when I have 2 overs with a backdoor: call one SB on the flop and fold the turn UI. Is it a decent play? Anybody has a better strategy here?

Re: KQd: Standard play on one dimond flop
This would be a good spot to raise and get everyone else out. You were the preflop raiser on this, so there's a good chance it might get you a free card.

Re: KQd: Standard play on one dimond flop
If you just call I think a hand like A6 or A2 is getting odds to call, so maybe its worth a raise here. This could result in a free card on the turn as well. This probably what I would do, but I'm not sure if it's the best play or not.

Re: KQd: Standard play on one dimond flop
I wouldn't pf raise this oop. How you play this depends on reads, I think. Playing for a backdoor flush is the wrong way to approach it, imho. You have flopped 2 overcards to the board, and if either pairs you have a decent kicker. A raise here might get you a free card next time, but again you are oop. Without good reads, I would probably take one off for 1 sb, although most people would advise against it.
edited: oops, you are pf raiser, which means raising is probably the way to go. |

I think this is a must-raise PF.

Re: KQd: Standard play on one dimond flop
I limp this preflop from UTG, this is a good multiway pot hand, not so good to knock a lot of people out and be out of position into the bargain.
I raise the flop to try and knock out those behind and go for a free card if the turn is a diamond. Should it be a K or Q, I bet the turn. |

Re: KQd: Standard play on one dimond flop
Even if you raise this UTG, you're going to get a multiway pot a lot of the time at the micro limits. Not raising KQs UTG is a crime, you're giving up a lot of value because people will cold call with worse hands all day long. If they happen to fold once in a while, that's fine too since you have a couple of big cards. KQs is a strong hand in SH and multiway pots alike.

Re: KQd: Standard play on one dimond flop
I raise the flop here. I have ~7 outs here, if I'm thinking correctly. 2 for the backdoor flush, ~1 for the backdoor st8, and about 4 for your overcards. If everyone calls on the flop, I'd call this turn, but I'm not sure how correct it would be to call two overcards getting 10:1.
