Default A few more hands for the night.

Observing UTG, he was doing some wild things earlier, 50%+ VPIP and check raising with nothing or bottom pair. This was the first time I saw him check 3 bet. I really dont like my hand, but the pot is large and I have top pair. Ed Millers "the time to worry about weak kickers is preflop" advice is ringing (very faintly) in my head.

Ultimate Bet 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG calls, 1 fold, MP1 calls, 2 folds, CO calls, 1 fold, Hero completes, Mr calls.

Flop: (5.60 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG checks, MP1 checks, CO bets, Hero raises, BB folds, UTG 3-bets, MP1 folds, CO folds, Hero calls.

Turn: (6.30 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets, Hero calls.

River: (8.30 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 10.30 BB

I'm wondering if I played this alright, BB will stay in with any 2 cards (60% VPIP, and I have never seen him fold when he has a bet out) and I was trying to let him catch up a bit.

Hand 1: I'd bet the turn for value, you have top pair and a flush draw, with a ton of outs to possibly give you the best hand. If you miss like you did here, you might be able to get a free showdown. Don't be afraid to be aggressive with marginal (but till drawing) holdings.

Hand 2: If your aggressive regularly on the flop, I'd bet this one. He might think your bluffing, and call. Even if you check, he's unlikely to bet back with anything that doesn't beat a set if he's suspecious.

Hand 3: Bet this turn! You probably have the best hand, and you don't want to give flush draws a free card.

Hand 1: Against a loose cannon type of player this line is fine. Against a solid opponent fold the river.

Hand 2: I actually don't mind the flop check (esp with A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]). I would raise him on the turn. If he wants to go to war early on, then let him. What if he had capped the river and shown QJo or some crap? You would feel stupid for not getting more in. When you raise the turn he will call (based on your read) and he will likely call with any piece on the river, if he is a "typical party .5/1" type.

My "logic" was that I wanted a cheap showdown (unless a heart or Q fell), and since Villian 3-bet the flop, if I check called/turn and check/called the river I could get a showdown for a cheaper price as if I bet the turn and got raised. But I really like your suggestion of betting out, because that would scare any marginal holding and let me take control of the hand.
