4 table, averageing 200+ hands an hour. Make 1BB/100 hands means $4/Hr so you need to play 250Hrs to make $1000/Month at it. 2BB/100 and you only need 125Hrs.
8 Table and attain 2BB/100 and your down to 62.5Hrs.

So it is possible, I don't really think you can play 1/2, even online, for a living. But it makes a nice hobby that also turns a profit.

1. More than it would to do it at 2/4 (or more than it's worth).
2. didn't you say 1/2 limit?

If you win at a rate of 2BB/100 and play 200 hands per hour (or 4BB/hr for simplification sake) you would need to play 125 hours.

8-tabling at a clip of 2BB/100 (perfectly reasonable), you're getting ~450 hands/hr at $4/100 hands, which comes out to $18/hr. So you'd have to work 55 hours to make $1000. You could do it in two weeks easily.

While we're on this subject does anyone know what most people that go pro actually play when they first start? My guess would be something like 2k hands a month of 3/6.

2K seems awful small.

I figure more than 20k, if you 4 table 3/6 you get closer to 250 hands/Hr as the games are quicker. That means 80 Hrs of play a month just to get to 20k

Well I guess if you want to be a pro you just make enough money each month that you can live comfortably off of. That number definitely varies depending on a lot of factors.
