Default A question about table selection?

I have just moved over to the 1/2 6-max about 3 weeks ago. Does anyone pay to much attention to the table VPIP like we have been told to do at the full tables. I know I have heard that the VPIP should be a minimum of 30 at a full ring game and closer to 40. What about at the 6-max game? Or does it matter. And any other help at table selection would be very helpful. Thanks in advance. And by the way, I love the short handed games alot better. Thanks for all the posts.

Honestly, table selection won't be as big a factor in your success at this level. The ratio of tourists to talent is about 10:1. I just open a random table.

You'll find a few regular TAGs (not many), so I'd just avoid tables with them because you can usually be the only tight player at a table. Lots of loose passives, and usually 1 LAG per table.

So just avoid those regulars.

at this level it doesnt really matter. All the tables are full of horrible players. The only way table selection comes into play is looking for REALLY horrible players.

Agreed. I just started back at the 1/2 6 max after taking a break in mid-December, and there are STILL a few of the regular grinders hanging out at the games. Its easy enough to recognize and avoid them.

I've been playing $1/$2 6-max for a month and a half, and have only run into two or three of 2+2rs (zeph being one). There are so many bad players it's extremely hard to find a table that isn't profitable.

Is it necessary? No, but it will still increase your win rate. At 6max a good table is more about being to the left of a chump than about the table as a whole though.

I just sit down at a table with 4 or 5 people and an average pot of 5BB or so. Players jump in and out so often that I'm not sure it is worth the time to look for more.
