Flopped Set -- Scary Board
Cry for help! 4/8 local B&M. No blinds, just $4 drop on the button. Button has option and is always last to act.
Villain has been getting worked all night and has tightened up. If he played online, I'd say he would be about a 24/3. Hero on the button with 66. 6 players limp, Hero checks option. (7 players) Flop = 6QT rainbow 1 bet, 2 fold, 3 call, Hero Raises, all call. (5 players) Turn = K Checked to Hero. Hero bets. 3 fold. Villain calls. (2 players) River = Friggin JACK Villain Bets, Hero ?? Onaflag......... PS. At the risk of major embarrassment, I'll say that I really didn't know the correct response. Crying call vs. Fold. |

Re: Flopped Set -- Scary Board
You have to call here.
The rule of thumb is: Don't fold the river for 1 bet in a large pot. |

Re: Flopped Set -- Scary Board
You have to call for the one BB, in a situation like this you fold and he shows you two pair, K's and J's...... How would you feel?

Re: Flopped Set -- Scary Board
In retrospect and based on the replies, I conclude I wimped out. I folded. For one nano-second as my cards were flying towards the muck, I patted myself on the back for not being so over-confident that I had to make the call.
Then as the cards hit the muck, I wondered why I thought that. Then when the dealer pushed the chips to the other end of the table, I really felt that one more BB would have been a good price to pay for one last shot at that pot. Oh well. I'm learning. Onaflag......... |

Re: Flopped Set -- Scary Board
Against this opponent, I think a fold here is fine.
