convertor cut it off but basically i check, other guy checks, late position bets and we both call.

Anyways, I tried to check raise the flop and that didn't turn out well, so I decided to call and bet out on the turn, then when the button raised I tried to knock some people out by 3-betting....

What were you trying to do on the flop? If you were trying to protect your hand by a c/r after a late position bet, don't bother. Just bet the flop. And if you wussed out on a c/r because the bet came from your left, don't bother. c/r for value.

Your hand is strong but vulnerable to overcards, don't screw around with it.

Since I played it how I did, what do you think of the turn 3-bet?

Your converter didn't cut it off, your river play is included in your turn play.

In any case, I really think you screwed yourself over on the flop, which dictated how the turn and river went about. I'd have auto-bet the flop, no need to get tricky.

Well, it depends somewhat on the button. You checked the flop and the came out betting a turn card that very likely didn't improve your situation at all. If he is doing any thinking about your hand, then the 3-bet is poor. But... this is .5/1, so fearing a thinking opponent is usual bad form. The 3bet gives gutshots sketchy odds to see the river. You also have some hidden outs to beat the two-pair hands he might be holding, and you hold two of the important cards for making straights on that board. And you have your own gutshot to improve. Overall, I think it's fine after the way the flop went.

Silly question, but is raising JJ from SB correct play? Where do you just call pocket pairs from SB versus raising?

AA-TT is a definite raise. 99 is borderline, 88-22 are completes.

This really solves all his problems doesn't it? I think w/a vulnerable hand you want to bet out moreso than try for the check raise.
