Default Overcards vs. a stop n go

Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
8 folds, Hero raises, BB calls.

Flop: (4 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, BB raises, Hero calls.

Crap, he raised. But I'll take one more off.

Turn: (4 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, BB checks.

Strange- an 8 or 10 would bet here for sure, right? Looks like he just did the "free card play" on me.

River: (4 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, BB raises, Hero calls.

Ugh. Fold or call? What should I have done here.

Final Pot: 8 BB

Comments appreciated, thanks.

Looks like you are up against J9. A made hand bets the turn and a missed club flush doesn't raise the river. I can't see you having the best hand enough times to justify a call.

The river bet is bad. If he calls, you're beat, and there's no way he's folding a better hand.

Calling the raise is worse.

If he's aggressive and will bet with a busted draw, check and call. If not, check and fold.

Also note that if your opponent has missed his flush he will not call your river bet, so you gain nothing by betting. If he made his hand, he raises and you lose a bet (or two if you call).
