Default Ass end Str8

The table was reforming after a break down so all but me and MP are new. MP has been stealing the blinds with crap. I know my PF hand was nothing to be calling in this hand with but I was holding my own on previous hands post flop. I decided to peek at the flop.

Hero ($105.05)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.

River: ($133.70) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Chances are that your hand is good unless UTG is capable of raising KQ here. Most likely, he has 2 pair or a set and was looking for a check/raise on the flop. I hope you took this down.

EDIT: I just realized that this was 6 max, but still, raising KQ from UTG seems a bit fishy, and since that's the only hand that beats you, I'm having trouble getting away from this.

I think you have to call.

But, this is a perfect example of what happens when you make unneccesary calls pre-flop.

I think you have to get all-in with this, but if he had KQ it a) shows why the preflop call was marginal and b) why they call it the ass end of the straight.

I have a nagging hunch he had KQ though, due to the min re-raise.
