I guess I have to ask: what hand did you put him on? TT? I would hope QQ would raise preflop, and that 55 wouldn't hang around on that flop. Why else would you check/call the river?

I check/raise the river if I knew he would bet. Is that why you didn't raise--because he bet the river?
