Default KJs near the bubble - push or not to push?

Freeroll tournament, Average stack is around 20k with 35 players left out of 760. 25 get paid, I'm interested in reaching the final table though. Button has been limping most hands and bullying the table, is this a good push with KJs with 9 x BB?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t2000 (8 handed) converter

BB (t25925)
UTG (t23706)
UTG+1 (t6371)
MP1 (t13450)
thomb2233 (t13844)
CO (t10360)
Button (t49278)
SB (t45057)

Preflop: thomb2233 is MP2 with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
3 folds, thomb2233 raises to t13844 (All-In), 1 fold, Button calls t13844, 2 folds.

Flop: (t30688) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Turn: (t30688) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: (t30688) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: t30688

Results in white below:
thomb2233 has Ks Js (one pair, kings).
Button has 4c 4h (three of a kind, fours).
Outcome: Button wins t30688. ]

you have a little less than 7x the bb actually

it's a fine push, or you can fold and sneak into the -nonexistant- money for the high spots of a freeroll

Good push.

If I held the button hand, I would most likely fold a low pocket pair to a push. You most likely have either over cards or a higher pocket pair. Unfortunate result.

Pretty clear push to me at 7 BB. Is it also a push at 9-10 BB?

You've really got to draw the line somewhere, so at 9-10 BB maybe just a raise to 3BB-4BB. Considering we're close to bubble, you would probably get the same number of folds. Interestingly enough though, you'd probably still end up losing all your money after hitting top pair on the flop.

poop on this idea. you have to call if you get reraised, and you can't push anyone off of anything on the flop when you bet. just poosh it in preflop.

I suppose you're right there. Raising doesn't really leave you with many options, so pushing with 9BB-10BB would be a better choice. So where should we draw the line? At 12BB, a raise to 3BB-4BB leaves us enough to make a pot-sized bet on the flop. But once again, we go broke through the beauty of poker. Hard to not lose it all here being short-stacked close to the bubble.
