Default SAW, Every puzzle has it\'s piece

Anyone seen this movie?

Obsessed with teaching his victims the value of life, a deranged, sadistic serial killer abducts the morally wayward. Once captured, they must face impossible choices in a horrific game of survival. The victims must fight to win their lives back, or die trying...

Suspensful, it's pretty good. Not the best acting, but its neat to figure out the way to escape

I kid you not, the theater I was in was laughing at various lines by Cary Elwes, especially when he goes crazy.

Great, great, plot and premise... BUT, its just so ridiculous it didnt work for me. Like when the woman has the gun pointed at the dude and is trying to use the cellphone and we all know shes just gonna drop the gun.

The guy could freaking rape your daughter right there and you think the most important thing is to call your husband. That whole scene got laughs too.

Understatement of the day. Although mostly it's just Cary Elwes who's horrible...Danny Glover and the kid and the minor characters were fine.

I also hated the editing in the vignettes about the other victims.

Good setup, though.

My wife and I watched it today. She liked it a lot, I thought it was ok. I think I would have liked it much better if Cary Elwes had just used his normal accent instead of trying to sound pseudo-American. Sometimes he tried so hard to sound American that it killed the emotion his line was intended to evoke. He is a doctor in NYC for god's sake, it would be perfectly understandable to have a hint of lime in his yammer.

Minor spoilers ahead...

I liked the premise quite a bit, but I would have liked a little more background. There is obviously some kind of connection and backstory between the main characters. Why were these particular victims selected? What was the point of the photographer? What took Danny Glover so long to figure out where they were? None of this really gets addressed.

About Cary Elwes, this should be the definition given to casting directors for "mis-cast". He was atrociously bad in this role. Many people in the theater I was in were laughing during his speech late in the film. He very nearly ruined the whole movie. Other than him, I think the movie was a solid horror pic.
