Default Biting back with low pocket pair

10/20 live game. I have 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in the BB. Three limpers, and the button raises. Button is a semi-loose aggressive player capable of raising a wide range of hands when he has position, including any pocket pair and most suited aces. The SB folds, I call, and the three limpers call.

The limpers are all calling stations. They will call down with any piece of a board and almost any draw. They will bet out with top pair if first to act on a flop and not facing pre-flop aggression, but will rarely push back in the face of aggression unless they have at least two pair or better.

(10 SB) Flop (5 players): J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I check, limpers check, <font color="red">button bets</font>, <font color="red">I raise</font>, 2 limpers fold, limper3 calls, button folds.

(8.5 BB) Turn (2 players): 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

<font color="red">I bet</font>, limper calls.

(10.5 BB) River (2 players): 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

<font color="red">I bet</font>

Anyone back off at any point? Any other comments?

I don't know about the river bet. Just how bad is limper 3? I mean there are not many worse hands he can call with here. Will he call with Ax? If not you should check. If so, maybe you have a very thin value bet. But look at all the hands that beat you: you lose to every pocketr pair and Jx.

(BTW, I am assuming you were value betting and not bluffing; a calling station is not going to fold any kind of real hand in this spot after calling down.)

I like it up until the river bet.

I don't really have a problem with checking the river. I guess a lot of it depends on what your opponent would bet with if checked to. If he will check behind higher pocket pairs or a Jack then I suppose checking would be better.

Good point. Forgot that A3/ A4 are possible hands here. I just thought that a middleish pocket pair or a jack were more likely and that villain would not bet these when checked to. If there is any chance that villain would call down with ace high, then i like the bet a lot more b/c there are enough hands that he would call a bet with that you beat.
