Should I have bet this river?
Should I have bet this river? The check-raise was from a rather tight player.

Re: Should I have bet this river?
Why are you limping?
3-bet the flop, see what happens. If he just calls, bet the turn and river. |

Re: Should I have bet this river?
Yes, absolutely this is a river bet. Remember, if he's tight and also observant he doesn't expect you to have a big ace here. If you were just going to call the flop you should pop the turn and go from there.

Why not raise this preflop?

Re: Should I have bet this river?
i think i would usually raise that preflop...
also.. i think 3-betting the flop is in order... don't forget you've got position on him too... so what if he just hit some dinky ace and u end up making next to nothing on the hand cuz he cr'ed you on the flop?.... if he caps you... well.... then mebbe in that case you're fux0red... bet the river... doubtful that he's gonna c/r flop, lead the turn... then go for a c/r on the river... |

Re: Should I have bet this river?
Thanks for the advice guys, I think I definitely need to work on becoming more aggressive in situations like this.

Re: Should I have bet this river?
I think your biggest hole is limping preflop. I don't think your hand is strong enough to 3-bet here w/o any read, that's just begging to lose money. I think a river bet is marginal, esp. considering he seems to like to c/r.

Re: Should I have bet this river?
Raising preflop will change the entire way the hand is played. You have a big hand, its a must to raise preflop.
In your line, 3 bet the flop and call down if he caps. Otherwise keep betting. |

Re: Should I have bet this river?
I'd raise PF.
I'd 3 bet the flop and continue betting |

Re: Should I have bet this river?
Ok, I will start raising here, would you raise with ATs as well, or is AJs the cut off, and would you raise with AJo here (pre-flop)?
