Default Mid tourny, below average stack with big stacks to your left.

Is the general consensus that one needs to really raise their stealing standards in this situation? ie. I have T1000 with stacks of T3500 and T4000 to my left, big blind is lets saaaay T150. Should I genuinely wait for better hands? I guess I shouldn't if I know that the big stacks are playing a weak tight game trying to wait us out, but what about unknowns?

i think it depends on how many players are left and what their stacks are. Also what type of player is the big stack. Does he call liberally or is he tight?
