Default Defend blind with A2 off?

<font color="blue">Cutoff is 56/9/1.5 and open raises. I’m in BB with A2. All fold to me. I’d specifically like feedback on whether you call this preflop raise, fold or reraise. Comments on all streets welcome.

Unless he's a LAG (which 9% pfr doesn't indicate), I'd lay it down. Against his button raise I'd 3-bet it. I never merely call with an A HU in the BB.

3 betting any ace from the BB against a button raise huh? i gotta say thats not what ive been doing. is this a common play?

also, are you open raising any ace from the button? regardless of the players in the blinds.

I switched to customarily 3betting a steal from the BB with Ax a few months ago, and it's worked rather well. You are getting both value and control of the hand. I'd say I 3bet about 70% of the players at PP 5/10 6m, and fold to the other 30%.

I almost always make the button open raise with Ax, unless I know the BB to be strong.

This has been the exact nature of my dilemna. I'm having trouble with actually forcing my clicks to comply with "raise or fold" from the BB. Lots of times, seems like button will open raise with anything and/or nothing, so I've been taking a cheap look at the flop and going from there. In this particular hand, I ended up with a boat, and he had a better one. The responses, though, confirm that I must decide to either fold or 3-bet, so I will try to make that my response, instead of just calling.

In terms of open raising any ace from the button, I sometimes do and sometimes don't, depending on how tough the blinds are to play against post flop. Frankly, I also need to develop better read skills to improve my postflop play as well. Once I do, I think I'll be more comfortable about raising any A from the button.
