Default Finding 5% VP$IP

Hi all:

Recent posts regarding VP$IP have me wondering if I'm missing opportunity with my current game plan in the 10/20 games... but as hard as I try to loosen up, my VP$IP seems stuck in the 21-22 range. Can anyone in the 25-30 range share where my stats are different than yours? Stats are for about 58,000 hands.

VP$IP: 21.3, BB/100: 1.28

Position, VPIP, BB/hand

Button, 21.37, .14
Cutoff, 16.78, .11
2off, 14.98, .09
UTG, 11.59, .09
BB, 20.92, -.15
sb, 37.12, -.11

My folded BB to steal is about 56, sb is about 85. I do think my blind play is still a weakness in these games. My "steal attempt %" is 27.84.

Steal more? Defend more? Where is that next 5%? Should I even care?

Thanks for any input. Any comments on my play (Pack3rfan1 now adays, yay rakeback) are also welcome.

VP$IP: 21.3 (25)(21.3), BB/100: 1.28

Position, VPIP, BB/hand

Button, 21.37 (29)(24), .14
Cutoff, 16.78 (22.4)(19), .11
2off, 14.98 (16)(16), .09
UTG, 11.59 (16)(15), .09
BB, 20.92 (30)(22), -.15
sb, 37.12 (30)(26), -.11

The second figures are before I changed my blind play and got a little more loose in CO and Button. I was then winning 2.5BB/100, 60K hands.

I have only played 10K with "new style" so BBwon/hand isnt worth a lot but so far it looks much better (.08 and .04 better) in blinds and a little bit worse on button. Maybe I am overplaying the button or maybe just running bad. BB/100 is 3BB so far, but as u know my true inrate could be very different.

U play a lot more then me in SB less in BB. Thats strange.

Filtered for 10/20. Removed my headsup sessions, so it's from 6-max games.

BB: -0.12
SB: -0.07

Wow, nice stats for 10/20 . . . maybe you should reply to my 10/20 posts on the next page or two . All you 10/20 vets just keep too much close to the chest . . .

This is interesting for me in that it suggests I don't have a ton of room to improve in the blinds, and that at as aggressive as 10/20 is I'm never going to get back to the lovely -0.02 (or so) BB/hand that I had at 5/10. Well, it's another piece of info at least . . .

Also interesting is the huge dropoff between the button and UTG re VP$IP. Mine isn't nearly as steep . . . and my early-position numbers are pretty crappy. Hmmm . . . helps to confirm my hunch that position is a lot more important at 10/20 than it was at 5/10.

Most of it is 4-tabling, never fewer tables. 10k-20k hands are 7-8tabling, 4x 10-20 and 3-4x 20/40 to 50-100.

This probably isn't the most popular thing to say, but I believe it to be slightly -EV to post very good advice on this forum.

No you're not. I think longterm -0.10 BB/100 is about the best one can do in this game.

Position is imo generally undervalued on these boards by the vast majority of the posters. People don't appreciate the automatic profit that comes with initiative versus weak and bad players.
